Town & Country
Public Library District

The Trustees of the Town & Country Public Library District are looking for their next Director. The successful candidate will be warm and approachable while having outstanding organizational and communication skills. The new Director will inherit a talented team of dedicated and customer-friendly employees who consistently work together to make the Library a valued neighborhood resource.
The Director reports to a
7-member, elected Board of Trustees. Minimum qualifications for the position include a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program and at least 5 years of related work and 3 years of supervisory experience. The candidate must have excellent communication and people skills, experience with sharing the

value of the Library to community members, knowledge of public finance, and a strong sense of leadership.
The Library can be bustling and noisy at times while offering plenty of options for quiet study; the best of both worlds. In addition to regular visitors, young and old, to the main building, the Library also manages the Lawrence J. Martin Heritage Center out of a home directly adjacent to the Library. The Center is now the headquarters for the Library’s History Department, as well as a workspace for the Kane County Genealogical Society.

Elburn is a quaint village
just west of the Fox River and a little north of I-88, outside the hustle and bustle of suburban Chicagoland. The ideal candidate will embrace the laid-back lifestyle and will ingrain themselves in what the good people of Elburn have to offer. There is always a community event taking place.
The third weekend of August is Elburn Days, full of family fun. The first Saturday in December is the Holiday Stroll with plenty of food and entertainment throughout downtown. The Library even has its own loveable mascot who makes appearances at these events. A great way to connect!
Salary, Benefits & How to Apply
This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary starting at $86,000.00, based on qualifications and experiences. The Library also offers a generous benefits package including four weeks of accrued vacation, sick leave, paid health and dental insurance, and participation in the valuable Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
