Poplar Creek Public Library District
The Board of Trustees of the Poplar Creek Public Library District in Streamwood voted to hire Jose Maldanado during their October 1st board meeting The decision comes after a nationwide search following the retirement of Debra Stombres.

Mr. Maldonado will begin on October 28.

Mr. Maldanado comes to Poplar Creek from the Naperville Public Library where they managed the 95th Street location - the largest in the system - since 2021. Before for Naperville,
Mr. Maldanado was the Circulation Manager in Palatine and then Evanston.
The Board appreciated Jose’s military experience and how he integrated examples from his service into his interview. Trustee Marianne Bailey liked how he outlined his first 6-12 months on the job. “He plans to listen and build trust. I liked that he didn’t want to come in and make changes right away, but rather learn our culture first.” Jose’s plans for reaching underserved communities stood out to Board President Ann Kennedy. “He has an established track record of building relationships with different communities and bringing them the library services they need.”
