Morton Grove Public Library

The Board of Trustees of the Morton Grove Public Library voted to hire Jeffrey Ray as their next Executive Director during a special meeting held on February 25. The decision comes after a nationwide search after current Director Pam Leffler announced her retirement.
Mr Ray will begin his new duties on April 13.

Mr. Ray is Morton Grove’s current Access Services Manager and has worked at MGPL for twelve years. Jeff is a “library lifer” - his first jobs was as a shelver in high school and then
college. He’s also worked at libraries in Bloomington, IN, and Aurora, IL.

The Board appreciated Mr. Ray’s extensive knowledge of the Library’s culture and the Morton Grove community. “I liked how he talked about what’s attainable, but you still could see that he has a larger vision as well,” said Trustee Mark Flores. Board President Emily Macejak was particularly impressed with Ray’s organizational skills. “He combined two departments into one in 2023 and has led that team since. He knows how to prioritize and delegate extremely well” Macejak said.
