Congratulations to Shannon Halikias on being hired as Executive Director of the Messenger Public Library!  

 

Ms. Halikias comes to Messenger from the Sugar Grove Public Library District where they’d been Director for 7 years. During her career, Ms. Halikias has worked at the public libraries in Lisle, Aurora, Western Springs and Alsip.   She is also an adjunct faculty of both the College of DuPage and Joliet Junior College where she teaches classes in their respective Library Technical Assistant (LTA) programs.  

 

“This is a beautiful Library and I think it is a positive fit on both ends.” Halikias said.  “They have good people there, and I plan to serve them to the very best of my ability.”  

 

The Board appreciated Ms. Halikias’ experience leading other libraries and her strong record of fundraising and grant writing.  Board President Mark Saperston noted that she shared many examples of getting things done.  “She doesn’t ask anyone to do something she’s unwilling to do.” Saperston said.
