Maywood is located

11-miles west of downtown Chicago; the Village offers an urban experience with a suburban feeling. Maywood has a rich and interesting history that the Library collects and organizes, including a number of houses on the national register. The Library serves an

ethnically diverse community of 23,000 from an original Carnegie building wonderfully renovated and expanded. The Library has an annual operating budget of over $1.4 million and currently employs 11 dedicated staff members.

Minimum Qualifications for the position include

an MLS from an ALA-accredited program, at least 5 years of related work, and 3 years of supervisory experience. Key to this job is defining and delineating the roles and responsibilities of trustees, administration, and staff; therefore outstanding communication skills are required. The chosen candidate will have excellent people

skills, experience promoting services to the community, knowledge of grant opportunities, and proven leadership abilities.

The Executive Director must

provide a proper setting for the recruitment, development, and evaluation of professional, service-oriented employees. The Library leader will participate in events outside of the normal work-week. They will enhance relationships with other Maywood leaders and 

they will get involved with local civic-minded organizations. The Executive Director will also drive the creation, implementation, and follow-through of the Library's next strategic plan.

Salary, Benefits & How to Apply

This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting salary of $75,000.00, based on knowledge and experience. The generous benefits package includes participation in the desired Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
