Maywood is located

11-miles west of downtown Chicago. The Village offers an urban experience with a suburban feeling. Maywood has a rich and interesting history that the Library continues to collect and organize. The Library serves its diverse community of 23,568 from an original Carnegie building wonderfully renovated and

expanded. MPLD has an annual operating budget of $1.5 million. Since reopening the building post-pandemic, the staff has grown to 18 dedicated employees. Managers are eagerly waiting for new leadership to assist in the re-establishment of traditional services and the implementation of new initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications for the position include

an MLS from an ALA-accredited program, at least 5 years of related work, and 3 years of management experience. Key to this job is defining and delineating the roles and responsibilities of trustees, administration, and staff. Outstanding communication skills are required.  The chosen candidate will have excellent

people skills, experience promoting services, knowledge of grant opportunities, and proven leadership abilities. They must provide a proper setting for the recruitment, development, and evaluation of professional, service-oriented staff members. The Executive Director will be an active participant within the community. They will also drive the creation, implementation, and follow-through of the Library's next strategic plan.

Salary, Benefits & How to Apply

This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting offer of $85,000.00, based on qualifications and experiences. The generous benefits package includes enrollment in the valuable Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.
