Lake Bluff Public Library
The Board of Trustees of the Lake Bluff Public Library voted to hire Natalie Starosta as their new Library Director during their February board meeting. The decision comes after a nationwide search following the departure of Renee Grassi for a position with the Wilmette Public Library. Ms. Starosta's first day is March 10.
Ms. Starosta comes to Lake Bluff from the North Riverside Public Library District where they’d been Director since 2018. Ms. Starosta also served as Library Director in Michigan before moving to Illinois.
The Board appreciated Ms. Starosta’s experience. “Natalie has encountered some of the challenges we’re facing at Lake Bluff,” Trustee Alexandra Friedeman said. “We liked the fact that she’s had success resolving them and leading her library to a better place.”
Trustee Janie Jerch felt Ms. Starosta’s ability to build relationships throughout the communities where she’s worked stood out. “She empowers her staff to work with local agencies and organizations,” Jarch said. “Everyone benefits when we work together.” Trustee Jenny Graziano was most impressed with how Ms. Starosta builds and develops her staff. “Natalie finds small ways that encourage staff to try new things and grow professionally. This makes them more confident and creative, leading to better services for Lake Bluff residents.”
