Congratulations to Juanita Harrell on being hired as the Executive Director of the La Grange Park Public Library District!
Ms. Harrell's first day will be March 20, 2023.
Ms. Harrell comes to La Grange Park from the DuPage Law Library where she has been Director for the past 2.5 years. Before then, she was the Health and Wellness Librarian at the Oak Park Public Library. “This is a wonderful community with a great Library and
dedicated staff,” Ms. Harrell said. “I’m honored to be the one chosen to lead the library through its upcoming renovation and beyond.”
The nationwide search for a new director began in October following the resignation of previous Director Kate Buckson. The Board of Trustees voted to hire Harrell as the Library’s new Director during their February board meeting.
The Board appreciated how Ms. Harrell prepared for the final interview. Trustee David Swainson liked that she took the time to learn and implement new technology into her presentation. “Juanita was very candid with us - she looked each of us in the eye and admitted when she didn’t know something.” Board President Laurie Whitman said. “That integrity stood out.” Trustee Josh Hightower enjoyed hearing about Ms. Harrell’s career journey. “She’s had a wide range of experiences which will help her lead us forward.”
