The Board of Trustees of the Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District is looking for a proactive and approachable new Director. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of emerging technologies and understand the steps necessary for successful project planning and completion. Two priorities for the leader in this role are enhancing relationships with partnering municipal governments and promoting services to all potential patrons. They must also provide the proper setting for the development and evaluation of talented, customer-friendly employees. 

The Ella Johnson Memorial Public Library District is located in northwest Kane County and covers more than 100 square miles. The Library proudly serves the residents of Burlington, Hampshire, and Pingree Grove from a building in downtown Hampshire. It is a large District with small-town appeal. The Board of Trustees is actively seeking property for the future construction of a larger Library building.  

The Library employs 12 staff members, with a budget of over $1 million. The Director reports to a 7-member, elected Board. Minimum qualifications for the position include a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program and at least 5 years of related work and 3 years of supervisory experience. This is a full-time, exempt position with an annual salary starting at $78,000.00, based on qualifications and experience.
