The Board of Trustees of the East Moline Public Library (EMPL) voted to hire Bianca Sierra during their January Board meeting  The decision comes after a nationwide search after previous director Laura Long was hired to lead the Fremont Public Library District 

 

Ms. Sierra will begin on February 7, 2024.

Ms. Sierra is a native of the Quad Cities and comes to EMPL from the Davenport Public Library where she managed their two branch locations.  As a graduate of United Township High School, returning

 

to East Moline as the new library director is a dream come true for Ms. Sierra and she looks forward to becoming part of the amazing library team. 

​

The Board appreciated the confidence and strength Ms. Sierra presented during the interviews.  “We need someone who can lead us with our new building into the future,” Board Vice President Van Thompson said.  “Bianca’s vision for the Library and the Community as a whole was very impressive.”  Trustee Sheryl Hansen liked Ms. Sierra’s plans to develop services that meet East Moline’s needs.  “East Moline has changed over the years and continues to change,” Trustee Hansen said.  “I was impressed with Bianca’s ideas on how we can best identify and address these changes and serve everyone.”
